Myths about mattresses. Did you believe in any of them?

Choosing the right mattress is not easy. It should be in serial reports - just like tests with completely different expectations and needs. It is never surprising that a lot of myths have arisen around this product category regarding the definition of mattresses, their features, and the criteria for their selection. We chose the most important ones and we will gladly deal with them!

#1. A foam mattress is better than a spring mattress ... ... Or a spring mattress is better than a foam one. Both types of mattresses have their own characteristics and are completely different - price, method of manufacture, cushioning, point elasticity, application ... Yes, we can put them together endlessly, but there is no point in considering whether one is objectively and absolutely better than the other . Because what does "better" actually mean? More comfortable, cheaper, bigger, harder, more flexible, more elastic, and maybe a little bit of everything? There is no universal rule that would determine this, so there is no need to bend over to the question "which is better?". The most important thing is your feelings - the perfect mattress for the one you have chosen and recognized as the best.

#2. What matters is the "first" impression While the first impression can only be made once and is often worth trusting, it is more about a date or interview, but not a mattress. This is a common mistake - the assumption that the only selection criterion for us is its convenience at the moment when we "try on" a mattress in the store. It is then easy for us to say that it is comfortable, and this favors an impulsive and ill-considered decision ... But that's not all. The purchase of a mattress should be preceded by an appropriate study of the topic so that you know what else - apart from comfort - should be followed. First of all: it is worth checking the quality of workmanship, "breathability" of the material or its durability. Secondly, whether the comfort of the mattress really serves us may turn out after a few or even several or several dozen days. At LPUR, we are well aware of this, which is why we provide our mattresses as part of the 100-night test, which will allow you to see if the model is for you.

#3. The more expensive the mattress, the better. Absolutely, this is not necessarily the case. There is no universal rule and no objective user satisfaction indicator - you can buy a cheap mattress that will bring you more comfort and satisfaction than the one for which we will pay a multiple of the value of cheap equipment. However, we agree that since you pay, you require and have the right to expect the highest quality of workmanship and components.

#4. The harder the mattress, the better. No, no and no more! For supporters of the hard mattress theory, we suggest a simple experiment: try to sleep for a few days and rest only on the floor. After all, the harder the ground, the better for the back! And seriously: the mattress should be flexible and springy, so it should adjust to your position and provide it with adequate support so as not to tire or tense muscles (during sleep they should relax and rest - this is crucial especially for people who regularly practicing physical activity and professional sports). It's just that, and that's it! The myth that "a hard mattress does good for the spine" probably came from the times when there were no other models on the market than spring ones, not necessarily of the highest quality. Hardness was easily equated with high quality, solidity and durability. A lot has changed in this regard - and definitely to the benefit of the user.

#5 It's just a mattress, a “piece of furniture” like any other. A mattress is the base and core of the bed and the heart of the bedroom. No, we're not exaggerating a bit! Yes, the mattress is not such a representative element of the bedroom decor as a wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside lamp or a bed frame, but they are not the factors that determine whether your body relaxes properly and whether they determine comfort. Choosing the right mattress is of great importance for the level of your sleep and rest, as well as your comfort and satisfaction. Taking into account the fact that, as a rule, we are served for at least a few, if not several years, we are not afraid to say that the choice of a mattress largely determines the quality of our life. And that's why we want this choice to be the best!

#6 A mattress will solve all sleep problems We really wish it were, but it's not that simple! Choosing a comfortable mattress made of the highest quality components is an important first step, but it should be followed by other ones - for example, regular physical activity, a balanced diet or introducing good practices into the evening routine: airing the bedroom, not using the smartphone immediately before going to sleep, introducing the regularity of the hours of falling asleep and waking up. We are well aware of the need to take care of proper sleep hygiene and to fight harmful habits. However, we are convinced that with our mattresses it will be much easier to implement these changes. Remember: better sleep is better life!
